Effective September 1, 2016, there is a new form a prospective buyer of a residential multi-family property in Connecticut must sign.
The form advises the potential buyer of certain fair housing laws that are applicable when offering property for rent in Connecticut. The form must be provided by the seller, signed by the prospective purchaser, and attached to the contract of sale (or a lease when an option to purchase is included). However, while the form is required by law, there is no express penalty for not providing it, and the applicable statute specifically states that failure to provide it does not affect the enforceability of the contract of sale.
The form can be found on the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities Website Fair Housing Notice Form.
